Paraguay Lower Chaco

We will visit the Growing Hope Globally supported agricultural development program in the Lower Chaco during this week-long visit from December 6-14, 2025. The Gran Chaco region is located in the heart of South America. It is one of the largest dry forests in the world. It is also home to 25 different indigenous ethnic groups, including Enxet Sur communities who are involved in the program. Extreme weather events like heat waves, prolonged flooding, and drought present major challenges to these farming communities.

About the Program

The Paraguay Lower Chaco program, implemented by Church World Service and local partner, Pastoral Social, works with nine indigenous communities of the Paraguayan Lower Chaco. Participants are learning to improve food security through regenerative practices in agriculture, livestock farming, and beekeeping. The program also focuses on water infrastructure, promoting the participation of indigenous women in resource management decisions, improving access to basic services, and mitigating risks posed by extreme weather.

Approximate Cost
