About the Guatemala Western Highlands Program

Food security is one of the most pressing challenges for rural indigenous communities in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. This program, implemented by Church World Service and local partner, CDRO, works with local community groups to improve the food security and nutrition of their families. The community groups work together to diversify their crop and livestock production, implement soil and water conservation practices, establish seed reserves, improve access to community markets, and transform community and school spaces into environments that promote healthy diets.
